Kellogg Canada is reviving decades-old packaging on its popular cereal brands – Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops, Rice Krispies and Corn Flakes – for a limited time.

The retro cereal boxes date back to the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s, and will be available until the end of May 2023 while supplies last.

"Our collective memories flash back to those familiar Kellogg's cereal boxes that sat on our breakfast table every morning while we were growing up," said Emma Eriksson, VP, marketing  and wellbeing, Kellogg Canada, in a statement. "Whether it was Toucan Sam, Tony the Tiger, Cornelius (the Corn Flakes rooster) or Snap! Crackle! and Pop!, these images are remembered fondly in the hearts of Canadians who can now share them with their own families with our Kellogg's Retro Series. The nostalgic designs will take Canadians back in time, while the cereal provides the easy, convenient nutrition that today's consumers demand."

Having first launched in Canada, the retro Frosted Flakes box features design elements from the 1970s and 1980s – including a two-dimensional tiger poised to dig his spoon into a bowl of Frosted Flakes cereal.

A “spokes-bird” for the Froot Loops brand since 1964, Toucan Sam sports his original beak with three colour stripes to match the colours of the cereal (red, orange and yellow) on this retro pack.

Rice Krispies cereal was introduced in 1927, and the brand started using the words "Snap! Crackle! Pop!" in ads in 1929. The elf character of Snap! made his debut on cereal boxes in 1933, and was joined later that year by Crackle! and Pop! The new retro packaging features the trio of beloved elves from the 1970s.

Finally, in 1906, W.K. Kellogg founded the Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company with Toasted Corn Flakes as its first product. The brand's green rooster mascot, Cornelius "Corny" Rooster, was introduced in 1957. The new retro pack features the stylized version of Corny from back in the day.
