Angie Arvanitis

Director of Customer Supply Chain
Kruger Products

You previously worked in the airline sector. Are there parallels between the skills you developed there and those you rely on today in the CPG supply chain?

Working in the airline industry taught me a few key skills that have helped me in the CPG industry. Firstly, when I was in operations I learned how to problem solve rapidly when an issue took place during a flight. This has become extremely helpful in managing supply chain issues within the industry. If a problem occurs during a manufacturing run, then we would need to find a solution quickly to ensure the right output is produced to fulfil customer demand. Secondly, I learned how important customer experience is—ensuring whether a passenger was satisfied with their booking or service with us translated perfectly in the CPG world. Our retailers are the most important to us and … providing the best solution and experience to them, defines our success.

What is your superpower?

I would say being a problem solver. I like breaking down challenges and finding solutions. The unknown territory is exciting and how quickly I can resolve an issue while remaining calm and making sure a solution is found. I like building relationships as well. Trying to find a solution usually requires collaboration between colleagues or customers.

Proudest career moment?

How we handled the COVID crisis. With no warning, the demand for paper products skyrocketed as soon as everything shut down. We had to quickly find new ways to meet customers' needs, while remaining healthy and safe. I was very proud of my team and the various departments that collaborated and adapted swiftly to ensure our products stayed on store shelves. My ability to find creative solutions and ensure we continued to serve customers is my proudest accomplishment.

What is the best advice you've received?

Never stop being a student.” I’ve applied that by seeking out mentors, asking questions and staying curious, whether that’s learning new technologies, understanding consumer trends or developing leadership skills. It’s helped me stay adaptable in a fast-changing industry.

What excites you about the grocery business?

How innovation is reshaping the customer experience, whether it's frictionless checkout, smart carts or AI-driven personalization. Technology is making grocery shopping faster, easier and more tailored to individual needs. Additionally, the software we use has enriched our day-to-day lives and allows us to make decisions more efficiently.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

I am passionate about wellness and health. I enjoy staying active with Pilates, cooking healthy meals and pairing them with a nice glass of wine. I love spending time with my family and friends and travelling with them as well.
