How did you get started in the grocery business?

I got my start in the grocery business at a young age, and what began as a job quickly turned into a career. Early on, I had the opportunity to work across multiple departments, in a variety of roles. This gave me a well-rounded understanding of how a store operates from the ground up, and each experience helped shape my leadership style. What drew me to the industry, and what has kept me in it, is the fast-paced, people-focused environment. There is something incredibly rewarding about being part of a business that plays such an essential role in people’s everyday lives.

Can you share some career highlights?

A key highlight of my career has been my involvement in community-focused initiatives. I have been fortunate to contribute to meaningful, hands-on efforts that make a real difference and help bring people together. What stands out most is the trust and connection that’s been built over time. Being able to work alongside dedicated teams and contribute in a way that is valued by the community has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career and continues to motivate me every day.

How do you keep your staff motivated?

I find the best way to motivate teammates is with energy, positivity and consistency. I believe the tone of a workplace starts with leadership, so I make a conscious effort to show up every day with a strong, supportive presence. Beyond that, I focus on creating an environment where people feel valued and heard. I recognize effort, not just results, and I make time to connect with my team, so they know their contributions matter. I also try to lead by example—I’m willing to step in, work alongside them and support them during busy or challenging times.

What is your customer service philosophy?

Everything starts with the customer. They are at the centre of every decision we make, and they are the reason our business exists. I believe great service comes down to consistency, respect and being present in each interaction. I focus on creating an environment where customers feel acknowledged, valued and taken care of every time.

What is your superpower, and how does it help you in your role?

I strive to recognize potential in others and help them grow into it. I make a point of understanding each person’s goals and what motivates them, and then I support them in developing the skills and confidence to move forward in their careers. This has allowed me to build strong teams and develop future leaders. When people feel seen and supported, they are more engaged, more confident and more likely to succeed, and that has a lasting impact on both the team and the business.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I enjoy staying active, travelling and spending time with my family. Those parts of my life keep me grounded and give me the energy and perspective I bring into my role every day.
