Alain Bouchard, Paul and Michael Higgins invested into the Order of Canada
Three industry executives have been invested into the Order
of Canada.
Alimentation Couche-Tard co-founder and chairman Alain Bouchard has been appointed an Officer of the Order, while Paul Higgins Jr. and Michael Higgins, co-CEOs of Mother Parkers Tea & Coffee, become Members of the Order.
According to a press release issued by the Governor General, Bouchard's recognition is "for his contributions as an entrepreneur and astute businessman and for his philanthropy, notably in support of culture and persons with an intellectual disability."
Paul and Michael Higgins, meanwhile, are celebrated for their leadership in Canada’s food industry, notably in developing and promoting sustainable business practices. They are the third generation to steer the family-owned and managed business, which was founded in 1912. They’ve overseen the development and expansion of the Mother Parkers brand, as well as the private label tea and coffee brands of many of North America’s grocer and restaurant chains.
The Order of Canada is considered one of the country’s highest civilian honours. This year's honourees were inducted into the Order Wednesday morning during a ceremony hosted by the Governor General.
