Aldi ramps up expansion plans

Discounter Aldi USA is setting up shop in southern California with a $55-million investment in a complex that will serve as a regional headquarter and DC.

A report said the Moreno Valley Complex site will serve as Aldi's base as it expands into California and the Southwest.

Aldi, which also runs the Trader Joe's locations through another subsidiary, is said to be looking at adding some 80 new stores under its Aldi banner, described as a dollar store for food.
