Amazon has killed its Dash buttons--wifi-enabled buttons customers could press to reorder specific consumer packaged goods products including Tide laundry detergent, Gillette razor blades and Bounty paper towels. The buttons will stop working Aug. 31.
The e-giant stopped selling the plastic buttons earlier this year and since then usage has lowered significantly, an Amazon spokesperson told CNET, which broke the story last week. The button only worked for predefined orders, not allowing customers to switch brands or alter the quantity of their shop.
Though the physical buttons will no longer work, virtual buttons can be found through Amazon's app and on its website. Amazon has already created the online buttons for shoppers who had physical ones.
