Andriani S.p.A. Benefit Corporation (Andriani), an Italian producer of gluten-free and plant-based foods, is set to open its first North American production facility in London, Ont.

The roughly $55 million investment is slated to create significant employment opportunities for the local community, and “represents a major milestone for the company in the international expansion of the Italian supply chain,” notes a press release.

The grand opening event, titled "Roots & Routes," will take place on Oct. 22.

Andriani’s international growth is also supported by the entry of NUO, an Italian investment company.

The 61,225 square-foot, state-of-the-art plant is where Andriani is set to manufacture its Felicia gluten-free, allergen-free and GMO-free pasta in North America.

“This new facility represents a concrete step in Andriani’s commitment to bringing the values of the Italian supply chain to North America; values rooted in innovation and sustainability,” says Carlo Stocco, general manager of Andriani S.p.A. Benefit Corporation, North America. “London, Ont., offered all of the right conditions to anchor the next phase of our international development: A strong talent pool with specialized skills, a vibrant ecosystem dedicated to agri-food innovation, and a clear focus on sustainability and competitiveness.”

In 2023, when the Andriani announced its commitment to a London plant, the province pledged $1.5 million in support through the Regional Development Program’s Southwestern Ontario Development Fund.
