One of the most popular fruit in NOrth America, the banana could be facing its demise as it's being threatened by disease, according to a report.

The Cavendish banana, most commonly found on grocery shelves, was thought to be resistant to a pathogen

As bananas come from identical clone plants instead of seeds, scientists say there is no way to reverses the disease spreading across global banana plantations. It's only a matter of time, researchers say, that the disease will hit Latin America, the U.S.' largest banana supplier.

Although it has yet to hit Latin America, the U.S.' largest banana supplier, experts say it is a matter of time.
