Beer, cider sales coming to 95 more Ontario grocery stores
Provincial government opens the bidding process for the next round of permits
Ontario grocery stores eligible to sell beer and cider have until next month to submit a bid online for one of 95 permits.
The Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) announced Friday morning that proposals could be submitted through a procurement website until the Nov. 6 deadline. The winning bids will be announced next year, with sales expected to begin in April.
The latest round of permits brings the total number of Ontario grocery stores authorized to sell beer and cider to more than 300, including 70 that can also sell wine.
Eventually, beer and cider will be sold in up to 450 grocery stores in the province and wine will be in up to 300 of those stores.
