A year after launching its click-and-collect service, The Beer Store is testing a store-to-door delivery service in Toronto's east end and Ottawa.
The chain made the announcement at a press conference Tuesday morning, after posting details of the service to a section of its Beer Xpress website the night before.

Customers can choose from more than 800 brands, place an order online and have it delivered to their door within two hours. All orders must be completed within store hours. Delivery charges will vary by order size, but start at $9.75 in Ottawa and $8 and in the east Toronto area known as Scarborough. Customers will be asked to prove they are of legal drinking age upon delivery.
The Beer Store said home delivery was part of its promise to modernize and improve the customer experience. At the press conference, Beer Store district manager Mario Di Paolo said the pilot results would dictate how The Beer Store should grow the service beyond these two markets. Ottawa and Scarborough were selected based on market demand and the number of stores in their delivery footprint.
The Beer Store follows in the footsteps of The Liquor Control Board of Ontario, which launched an online store last summer offering more than 5,000 products for either in-store pickup or home delivery.
The LCBO said it registered $1.7 million in sales during the first three months of the online business.
