Breakfast Club of Canada launches fundraising campaign to fight child hunger
Who: Breakfast Club of Canada
What: With a new school year about to begin, Breakfast Club of Canada is sounding the alarm on the growing number of children starting their day without food.
To address this issues, the Club is launching a national fundraising campaign that invites Canadians to support the effort through text or online donations.
"Behind these numbers lies immense potential: talents, voices and dreams at risk due to a lack of access to nutritious food,” said Tommy Kulczyk, president and CEO of Breakfast Club of Canada, in a press release.
“Breakfast programs are not a universal solution to today's challenges, but they remain a beneficial intervention for thousands of students throughout the school year. Every child deserves an equal chance to succeed, no matter their circumstances.”
The campaign launches as schools and non-profits face mounting pressure. Breakfast Club of Canada and its partners report a 30% increase in demand for breakfast programs in recent years, with more children across Canada relying on the service.
All donations made until Oct. 31 will be matched by the MTY Foundation and Les Producteurs de lait du Québec. The campaign will be supported by television, online and social media ads throughout the fall.
