Who: Calgary Co-op

What: The company hosted its 30th annual Charity Golf Classic Tournament at the Heritage Pointe Golf Club in Calgary on June 2.

The event raised $300,000 which was evenly distributed to four local charities: The Calgary Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, Unison and Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids.

Each charity received a cheque for $75,000 from the Calgary Co-op Community Foundation.

“Community is at the heart of everything we do at Calgary Co-op,” says Penney McTaggart Cowan, VP, marketing and member experiences and chair of the Calgary Co-op Community Foundation, in a press release. “The funds raised for local charities through the support of our partners and vendors at this annual event are a powerful reminder of the impact we can make when we come together with a shared purpose.”

The event, attended by Calgary Co-op’s partners and vendors, has raised millions of dollars over the past 30 years to support food security in the community. In the past 10 years, the tournament has raised over $2.5 million for the grocer’s charitable partners.
