Calgary Co-op has new bakery director
There’s a new baker at Calgary Co-op. Valerie Joslin was recently appointed bakery operations director at the retail co-operative.
Joslin (pictured above) has worked in the bakery industry in Western Canada for more than 30 years.
“Her proven track record in operations, sales, merchandising and strong knowledge of the food industry confirms Valerie will be a valuable asset to not only our bakery division, but Calgary Co-op as a whole,” Jeff Ambrose, Calgary Co-op’s vice-president of operations and merchandising, said in a press release.
Joslin took on her new role Jan. 9. Her appointment comes at a time when Calgary Co-op is focusing more on the bakery category.
“We are launching innovative bakery programs, offering fresh new products and continuing to develop and build loyal relationships with our members and the community,” Joslin said. “It’s an exciting time at Calgary Co-op and I am honoured to be a part of it.”
Calgary Co-op operates 24 grocery stores in and around Calgary. Its total retail sales top $1 billion a year from grocery, gas, pharmacy, wine, spirits and beer and travel operations.
