At Campbell's, thinking beyond cans

Dinner segment and soups with a twist drive innovation at soup company

Campbell’s is known for its iconic tinned soup, but the company’s CEO recently noted some successes thinking outside the can.

In a conference call with analysts, Denise Morrison said Campbell’s Skillet Sauces line in particular is showing good promise to help the company penetrate the dinner sauce segment.

“With this product, we’re working with our customers to create an entirely new category of unique, convenient and versatile dinner sauces,” Morrison said.

She  said that Cambell’s Go Soup line has also performed well. Go Soup comes in pouches with unconventional packaging and unique flavours such as Spicy Chorizo and Pulled Chicken with Black Beans.

“Since we’ve turned on our marketing, which has been largely digital, we’ve seen improvements in sales in this line,” she explained.
