Canadian Grocer, now available on your phone
Canadian Grocer is pleased to announce that starting Tuesday, Nov. 22, readers will be able to access our web content through their smartphones.
"By making breaking news stories, consumer insights, and articles from CanadianGrocer.com available on a mobile platform, readers can access content anywhere and anytime they like," said Rob Gerlsbeck, Canadian Grocer's editor.
Canadian Grocer was the first magazine to launch a news website for the grocery industry in Canada and now we're also the first to make it available on mobile, Gerlsbeck added.
A recent study by media research firm comScore found that Canada has one of the highest smartphone penetration rates in the world. Thirty-three per cent of wireless device users in Canada now own a smartphone. That's more than in the U.S. (32 per cent), France (31 per cent) and Germany (28 per cent).
Smartphones such as the iPhone and BlackBerry make it easy to browse the web. As smartphone penetration climbs even higher, phones will arguably supplant desktop computers as the go-to device to do research and read articles online.
"More and more grocers are introducing smartphone applications to reach their consumers. As the national magazine for the grocery industry we think it's important for us to be there too," Gerlsbeck said.
Starting on Monday, anyone with a smartphone can go to CanadianGrocer.com to read the latest industry news, as well as research past articles from the website and the magazine in a mobile-friendly format.
The mobile launch is being sponsored by Procter & Gamble.
And for those who want to have their news delivered, they can sign up for our weekly e-newsletter on the website. It's free and sent to your inbox every Tuesday morning.
