The new June edition of Canadian Grocer is now available, and you can read it in Digital Flipbook.

Our cover story looks at store design. We’ve got lots of ideas to help make your next renovation easier and better. (Did you know you’re supposed to do a minor remodel every five years and a major store reno every 10 years?)

Also in this issue we examine the burgeoning store-within-a store format. More grocery stores are adding in-house shops. Check it out on page 38.

Two of our regular columnists look at category trends. In “Getting fresh in your aisles,” Nielsen VP of consumer insights, Carman Allison, writes about growth in fresh produce and meat (page 19).

Joel Gregoire, senior food and drink analyst at Mintel, examines how Canadians are exploring ethnic foods—from Filipino cuisine to African—in a “A taste for something foreign” (page 21).

If you’re a store manager or store owner, you will want to read “Giving staff the spotlight” on page 11. You’ll learn how grocers, from Overwaitea to Metro, are using frontline employees in their marketing efforts.

All of these articles and more are just a click away.
