Canadian moms are more green

3/31/2011

New research finds that Canadian moms are more concerned about environmental issues than moms in the United States and the U.K.

Sixty-nine per cent of moms here say they care about protecting the environment compared to 48% of mothers in the U.K. and 45% in the U.S., according to a survey conducted on behalf of Procter & Gamble for its Future Friendly brand program.

Ninety per cent of Canadian moms said that given a choice they would switch to a green alternative of their favourite home cleaning brand.

As well, 43% of moms have already stopped buying brands that they believe are not eco-friendly.

"Canadian moms really want to do their part for the environment without sacrificing quality," said P&G's Victoria Maybee.

P&G's Future Friendly program groups brands together that save on water, waste and energy, either in the manufacturing process or in the home, such as Tide Coldwater and Ultra Downey.

The program is in its fourth year in Canada but is just launching in the United States.
