Canadian retailers win at PLMA
Two Canadian companies picked up hardware at the Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA) Salute to Excellence Awards in Chicago this past weekend.
Sobeys and Metro-Richelieu, a division of Metro Inc., won two awards each in the annual new product awards competition.
Metro-Richelieu was given top honours for its Selection Eco automatic dishwasher tabs
Sobeys won in the Pizza category for its Spinach Thin Crust Brick Oven Pizza, sold under the Sensations by Compliments brand. It also won in the Vegetarian category for Compliments yellow and green beans.
The Salute to Excellence Awards are handed out during the PLMA show in Chicago. Thirty-six awards were given this year from among a nomination list of more than 400 products.
Winn-Dixie Stores and Aldi Inc. won the most awards: three each. In addition to Sobeys and Metro-Richelieu, several retailers won two awards, including Save-A-Lot, A&P, Kroger and Henry’s Farmers Market.
