Caroline's Cart arrives at Cole Harbour Sobeys
Grocery cart is designed for physically challenged kids and adults
Sobeys in Cole Harbour is the first retailer in Atlantic Canada to offer a grocery cart specifically designed to carry disabled children.
Caroline’s Cart, the brainchild of a small-town Alabama mom, contains a chair that can accommodate a child up to 250 pounds and has a five-point harness system.
Inventor Drew Ann Long created the invention after realizing her daughter would outgrow a typical shopping cart.
The manager of Sobeys Cole Harbour, Paul Kenick, has six-year-old twin sons who have multiple special needs. He ordered the cart after seeing it at a Sobeys store in Calgary.
