Carrefour Group, Food X Technologies partner on e-grocery

Pilot will launch in Belgium and includes online ordering and delivery capabilities

Food X Technologies, a software solution for online grocery fulfillment, has partnered with French supermarket and retail operator Carrefour Group to accelerate its e-commerce capabilities.

To start, Carrefour will introduce the Food X platform--online ordering, automated fulfillment and home delivery--next year to the Belgium market, where it's also building a central fulfillment centre.

In a press release, both companies said it would consider expanding the partnership to other markets following the test in Belgium.

“We are very excited to start this tech partnership with Food X, which will boost the efficiency of our e-commerce operations,” said Amélie Oudéa-Castera, head of the customer, data and tech division at Carrefour Group.“It will allow us, in one of our key markets, to pilot innovative ways to achieve a profitable, scalable and sustainable online business while delivering an outstanding experience to our customers.”

Carrefour Group has a network of more than 12,000 stores in more than 30 countries, with more than 320,000 employees.
