Chicago set to roll out local food label

The Chicago Grown label is the first to support urban ag culture

Chicago is about to launch a food label that will help consumers identify local food, according to reports.

“Chicago Grown” will appear as stickers on produce, honey and, eventually, processed foods all made in the windy city.

It grew out of the city’s exploding urban farming movement, and supporters believe is one of the first city-specific labels promoting urban agriculture.
