Cornershop is making its debut in the United States with launches in Miami and Dallas, as shoppers continue to lean on e-grocery during the COVID-19 pandemic and grocers try to meet the demand.

Founded in Chile in 2015, Cornershop is an on-demand grocery app that delivers orders in as little as 60 minutes. (Ride-hailing service Uber purchased a majority stake in Cornershop last fall.)

The company is now one of the largest grocery delivery services in Latin America, with service available in Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Brazil. It also has a major presence in Canada through partnerships with Walmart, Metro and Organic Garage.
Grocers and delivery services in Canada and the U.S. have struggled to keep up with the surge in e-grocery during the COVID-19 crisis, as shoppers opt to stay home as much as possible. Food retailers have had to increase staff and add additional delivery and pick-up times.
