Costco opens doors to upgraded warehouse in London, Ont.

Costco has opened the doors to its relocated club in London, Ont. 

The upgraded warehouse, located at 3140 Dingman Drive, replaces the club's previous location in South London (4313 Wellington Road South). 

Spanning 151,642 square feet, the warehouse features wider aisles and a larger selection of food offerings.

It also includes a larger variety of specialty departments, such as an on-site bakery, fresh meat, expanded produce area, rotisserie chicken section, optical centre – including an on-site independent optometrist – a newly-introduced hearing aid centre, five tire centre bays, large food court, gas station with 24 pumps on four islands, propane station and an expanded pharmacy.

With 12 checkout registers, a new self-checkout section with nine stations and 1,050 shopping carts, the warehouse features 800 parking spots – 150 spots more than the former London location. 

The new club has created more than 40 additional jobs. 

An opening ceremony was held Wednesday (March 29).

In attendance was Ward 12 councillor Elizabeth Peloza; Gino Dorico, senior vice-president and country manager, Costco Wholesale Canada; Marc-André Bally, senior vice-president and general manager, Costco Wholesale Eastern Canada; Derek Campbell, regional vice-president of operations, Costco Wholesale Eastern Canada; and Justin Peckitt, general manager, Costco South London.

“With the opening of this new warehouse, we can serve all of our members in the London and surrounding area and can bring new consumers and businesses to uncover the benefits of a Costco membership,” Dorico said in a statement. “We are very proud to share this new location with our valued members and member businesses in the local community and throughout the area.”
