CPMA reveals 2023 New Product Showcase winners

From "spirited" spring mix to sustainable packaging, four innovative products were celebrated at the annual produce show

Plant power was on full display at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre this week as it played host to Canada’s biggest produce show.

Among the wares on display—by more than 300 exhibitors—four products earned the distinction of being the best of the best at the Canadian Produce Marketing Association’s 2023 Convention and Trade Show. Evaluated by a jury of produce industry leaders and media professionals, here are the four products came out on top:

BEST NEW PRODUCT: Nature Fresh Farms Yoom Tomatoes. Nature Fresh Farms describes this variety as a two-bite, deep purple tomato with an “intensity and range of flavour from savoury to a hint of plum-like sweetness.”

BEST SNACKABLE PRODUCT - Naturipe Farms Boost Bento and Bliss Bento. With ingredients that nourish and energize, Naturipe says its ready-to-eat snack pack satisfy with protein, fibre and vitamin C. Available in a variety of combinations from Classic ‘n Sharp (with berries, almonds and sharp cheddar cheese) to Vanilla Crunch (with berries, granola and honey roasted walnuts).

BEST ORGANIC PRODUCT – Mastronardi Produce Queen of Greens Spirited Spring Mix. Touted by the company as “greens that rule” this Queen of Greens Spirited Spring Mix is a premium blend of greens that are grown “without human interaction” in greenhouses where no pesticides are used.

BEST PACKAGING INNOVATIONCascades Closed Baskets for fresh produce. Produce packaging that’s more sustainable. This sturdy basket is made of recycled and recyclable corrugated cardboard.
