DCI's annual dinner brings out record crowd
At Distribution Canada Inc.'s(DCI) annual dinner Wednesday night, a record crowd came out to celebrate the group's 31st year.
Brian Parker, DCI president and CEO, said more than 200 people attended the event last night at the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel and Conference Centre.
Parker gave a brief state of the industry address, and congratulated the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocer's on their 50th anniversary.
He also recognized Ottawa's Country Grocer Francois Bouchard, the newest board member and announced the re-election of Steve Sharpe, of Cambellford's Sharpe's Food Market as chairman of the board.
DCI's new members include: Michael-Angelo’s Market Place, Cataldi Fresh Market, Galleria Supermarket and Harold's Family Foods.
DCI was originally created as a buying group for independent grocers and has now evolved into a selling organization that includes independent grocers, small grocery chains, wholesalers/distributors, mass merchandisers, and C-store chains.
