Delhaize sells three of its American chains

Bi-Lo snaps up Harveys, Sweetbay, and Reid's chains from Belgian grocer

Delhaize, a Belgian grocer, has sold off three of its U.S. chains to Bi-Lo.

Harveys, Sweetbay and Reid’s banners will go to the rival company, while Delhaize will keep Food Lion.

Bi-Lo bought the three chains for $265 million.

The move is the latest for Delhaize, which earlier this year said it cut 500 corporate jobs to lower expenses from its American division.

And the chains’ new owner, Bi-Lo has also undergone changes, having acquired the Winn-Dixie chain for $560 million last year.
