Anishinaabe designer Lesley Hampton is the Cashmere Collection’s 2023 Dedicate Couture for the Cure winner.
Hampton’s bathroom tissue creation was one of 20 looks to walk the runway show in October.
Consumers were given the chance to dedicate their favourite gown, with each dedication receiving a $1 donation (to a maximum of $50,000) to the Canadian Cancer Society and Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation’s breast cancer efforts.
As the winning designer, the $50,000 donation from Cashmere will be made in Hampton’s name.
“Chi Miigwetch and thank you so much. It’s an honour to have my design dedicated the most during Cashmere’s Dedicate Couture for the Cure,” Hampton said in a statement. “As someone who has lost a family member to complications with breast cancer, it is so meaningful to me for my art to be a part of the Cashmere Collection and assist in generating $50,000 to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.”
