UPDATE: This story was first published in October 2022.

Eataly is about to open its second location in Toronto, with plans to open a third next year.

The popular Italian marketplace will open its new 25,000 square-foot food hall at the Cadillac Fairview Sherway Gardens on Nov. 2.

It will feature features two restaurants, five counters, a mozzarella lab as well a selection of house-made, Italian and Canadian products.

Eataly also announced Friday (Oct. 27) plans to open a third location in 2024 at CF Shops at Don Mills in Toronto.

The food hall first opened its doors in Canada in 2019 at 55 Bloor Street West in Toronto. The city will be the second in North America after New York to have more than one Eataly location.

The company signed a multi-year lease at the Sherway Gardens shopping centre, located in the city's west end, in October 2022.

“Eataly reflects the most authentic experience of Italian cuisine, and Toronto shares our passion for high quality food, drink, and experience. We knew when launching in Canada in 2019 that this would be an important market for us, and the last four years have continually reinforced this,” said Tommaso Brusò, CEO of Eataly North America, in a statement. “The store at Sherway Gardens is a special one: Toronto is one of the only two cities in North America where we have opened more than one location. At the same time, we know it’s just the beginning and we look forward to building our story in Canada next year and beyond.”

Eataly currently has nine flagship North American destinations and 47 stores worldwide.
