Egg Farmers of Canada recognized for commitment to social responsibility

International Egg Commission awards organization with prestigious Crystal Egg Award
9/15/2014

The International Egg Commission is known for watching what egg organizations are hatching the best plans.

This year, they’ve named Egg Farmers of Canada as the 2014 recipient of the Crystal Egg Award – an international award that recognizes outstanding commitment to corporate and social responsibility.

The Crystal Egg was presented last week at the Egg Commission’s annual gala in Edinburgh. Hundreds of delegates gathered to share best practices, discuss global trends and emerging opportunities in the egg industry.

Egg Farmers of Canada has been around for almost four decades. It manages the national egg supply and promotes egg consumption.

They’ve worked with many national organizations, including the Breakfast Club of Canada and Food Banks Canada. They also sponsor a series of events including the Forum of Young Canadians and CIBC’s Run for the Cure. Mot recently, Egg Farmers took part in a Heart and Stroke fundraising activity and became a partner of BullFrog Power.

“Through sponsorship and social partnerships, donations and awareness campaigns, our farmers make it a priority to give back to their community,” said Peter Clarke, chairman of Egg Farmers of Canada in a statement. “This award goes to all of our farmers and our dedicated staff who work hard every day to live up to that mission.”
