In Europe, Coke looks into recycling habits

French and British consumers say they recycle, but often don't

When developing new products, consumer packaged goods companies often head into people’s homes to get a sense of how they actually cook, clean and such.

Now Coca-Cola in Europe is heading into people’s home’s for a very different reason: to figure out how people recycle.

The pop company has teamed up with England’s University of Exeter on a study that will observe the recycling habits of 20 families in Great Britain and France.

One thing researchers are keen to understand is why recycling rates are so low.

About three-quarters of French and British homeowners say they always recycle plastic bottles at home. But recycling rates in those nations do not support the claims.
