Fire leaves town without a grocery store

Seaforth officials consider turning local arena into a temporary store
4/30/2013

A fire in a Seaforth, a small town in southwestern Ontario, has destroyed the community’s only grocery store.

Officials say the fire broke out early Saturday morning in the Foodland Ontario’s loading dock, and then spread inside the store.

Huron East fire chief Marty Debard told CTV the blaze is “suspicious.”

The fire has left residents without a nearby source of fresh food.

Town officials are considering turning the community’s arena into a temporary store, while the grocery store owner rebuilds.
