Generation Next 2018 winners announced

Nine rising stars in the grocery industry recognized at Golden Pencil ceremony


Nine rising stars of the grocery trade were recognized Monday night with Canadian Grocer’s Generation Next Award.

The award, now in its eighth year, goes to suppliers and retailers under 40 who demonstrate leadership, a commitment to working in grocery and involvement in the industry or their community.

The 2018 winners are:

Lindsey Abrahams, district sales manager at Wonderful Sales

Christian Arbez, director, store marketing at Sobeys

Mat Stiver-Balla, sales planning manager at Clorox

Darren Bavaro, store manager at Save-On-Foods

Marie-Christine Bélanger, director, national procurement at Metro

Teresa Blakney, brand manager, brand development at Conagra Brands

Nigel Oliver, category manager at Vince’s Market

Nena Pidskalny, store brands specialist at Federated Co-operatives Limited

Kevin Reider, director of business development at A. Lassonde

The winners were awarded during the Golden Pencil ceremony at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto.
