Canadian Grocer announces winners of its Generation Next 2013 award

At the Golden Pencil Awards at the Royal York in Toronto last night, Canadian Grocer announced the 2013 winners of its Generation Next awards.

Sean Sportun, manager of security and loss prevention, Mac’s Convenience Stores, Toronto won on the retailer side. On the manufacturing end, Adam Grogan, vice-president and general manager of customer business development, Maple Leaf Foods, took home the award. Sportun has been credited with a drop in theft–55% since 2007 for his innovative programs for the convenience store chain.

Grogan, meanwhile has modernized meat thanks to updated displays and helping to bring Maple Leaf's Natural Selections line to market.

Generation Next Award recognizes future leaders in grocery under the age of 40.
