Giant Tiger opens in Atholville, N.B.

Giant Tiger opened its newest location over the weekend--a 20,500-sq.-ft. space in Atholville, New Brunswick--bringing the discount retailer's store count to 250.

"We remain committed to expanding our markets as well as making it easier for every Canadian to enjoy exceptional value in food, home and fashion while knowing they paid the best price with Giant Tiger," said Cindy-Lynn Steele, senior vice-president of strategy and integrated marketing, Giant Tiger Stores Limited.

The Ottawa-based chain embarked on an expansion strategy in 2016, and at the time it said it would open 10 to 15 new stores every year for the next three to five years. In addition to store openings, Giant Tiger recently opened a distribution centre just south of Ottawa, which it said would help fill gaps in its existing grocery offering.
