Giant Tiger opens in Charlottetown

Canadian discount retail chain continues to grow
7/16/2017

Discount retailer Giant Tiger continues its cross-country expansion with the opening of its Charlottetown, P.E.I. location.

The new location occupies 24,930-sq.-ft. and sells a mixture of apparel, grocery, seasonal and lifestyle products. Food items include name-brand products and some under the company’s own private-label line, called Giant Value. It's the retailer's second P.E.I. location.

The first Giant Tiger opened in Ottawa’s Byward Market in 1961 and today the company has more than 225 locations in eight provinces.

All stores are locally owned or operated. Giant Tiger opened a previously announced store in Peterborough, Ont. earlier this year. Ten more are in the works for 2017, including plans for one store in Bedford, N.S. and one in Mississauga, Ont.
