Grand Prix winners revealed
Cauliflower pizza crust and a vegan protein smoothie are among the winners of the 26th annual best new product awards
On Wednesday night the Retail Council of Canada presented 24-winning companies with its Canadian Grand Prix New Product Award.
Once again Metro was a big winner, taking home six awards for products in its private label line, while Walmart Canada also had a strong showing grabbing six trophies, including a special Overall Consumer Value award for its Easy-Blends Fruit & Vegetable Mix.
Now in its 26th year, the Grand Prix awards aim is to celebrate innovation and creativity in the food industry.

The winning Grand Prix products were evaluated by a jury composed of people working in the grocery and consumer packaged goods industry, as well as journalists and dietitians in Montreal, in February. To become a finalist, products had to achieve a score of at least 70% in the judging.
"We’re seeing tremendous innovation in products that allow Canadians to easily recreate a wide range of restaurant-quality taste at home," said Diane J. Brisebois, president and CEO of Retail Council of Canada, in a press release. "The trend towards a more multiculturally inspired assortment of food products and a cleaner and healthier ingredient list is evident."
Donald and David Sobey and the Sobey family were also recognized during Wednesday night's ceremony, with the 2019 Canadian Grand Prix Lifetime Achievement Award.
