Grocery vending machines come to B.C. condo

C-stores might have been the solution for time-starved shoppers in 2014, but this year vending machines might be the answer.

Happy Vending, a Vancouver-based company, equips its machines with grocery staples like milk, eggs and coffee. According to their website, Happy Vending's machines can fit more than 50 products, and are built with a special health timer expiration system that notifies staff when products are about to expire.

The company is installing vending machines in apartment buildings in Yaletown and Burnaby, focusing on Metro Vancouver buildings before planning expansion throughout Canada.

Owner Jason Moyal is also developing an app so building residents can check what products are available, and eventually allow them to pay using ApplePay.

Until then, the vending machines accepts cash, credit and debit.
