Some 160,000 visitors are expected to attend the SIAL show in Paris next week (October 16-20) to see and sample some of the most innovative food products from 105 participating countries.

With this year’s host, French food will be in the spotlight with more than 1,000 companies from France taking up 19% of the exhibit space. Three “store tours” will be specifically dedicated to innovative food concepts in Paris—from delis and gourmet stores to wine and spirits outlets.

“SIAL is all about giving food for thought and inspiration to the myriad of companies that help design, invent and explain the food products of tomorrow,” says Nicolas Trentesaux, director of the SIAL Network, a global group for food innovators.

What’s new?

Inspire Drink is a new aspect to this year’s show that will focus on the latest trends in cocktails, mocktails, tea and coffee.

In collaboration with World Champion Barista Victor Delpierre, attendees will get an inside look at Latte Art, Slow Coffee, Coffee Mocktails and other international versions of the Irish Coffee and Mojito. They’ll also be a DJ performing for Happy Hour events starting at 5 pm daily.

Visitors to the SIAL Innovation Observatory will find the winners of the 2016 Innovation Awards, selected in 15 categories from more than 600 products.

Award-winners include a bevy of sweet and savory products, ranging from a sausage-shaped, ready to slice, gluten-free quinoa for pan frying, to dried citrus fruit leaves for use in cocktails and cakes.  There’s also a new 20% alcohol carrot liquor that’s packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

SIAL hosts events in seven countries. For more information on the upcoming show in Paris go to www.sialparis.com.
