Groupon app offers cash back on groceries

Deal-of-the-day website Groupon is navigating the world of grocery with the release of a new app called Snap.

The app features a list of grocery and CPG goods. If you buy one of the products on the list, you can take a photo of your receipt as proof and Groupon will mail a cheque for a discounted amount once your total exceeds $20.

“Snap is the latest way that we’re helping people discover new brands and save money on the things they buy every day,” said Sean Smyth, vice-president and general manager, of Snap by Groupon in a release. “We’re using the power of smartphones to make couponing easier and more convenient while paying people to shop.”

Groupon is offering some intriguing promotions to help spur downloads. For example, users can receive $1 cash back on the purchase of any gallon of milk, and $1 back on any bread purchase.
