U.S. targets honey, alcoholic beverages, whey and more
U.S. President Donald Trump announced new 50% tariffs on a variety of Canadian goods last week.
Trump said he was imposing the steep duties—set to take effect on Aug. 19—to offset Canada’s “discrimination” against its neighbour with regards to dairy, alcoholic beverages and motor vehicles.
The tariffs apply to all covered goods regardless of whether a good originates under the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA), which Trump declined to renew.
