How does Whole Foods' CEO feel about Amazon?

Tides have seemingly turned for the once contentious relationship between John Mackey and the e-giant

Whole Foods co-founder and CEO John Mackey offered some insight into
the relationship with Amazon during a recent interview with CNBC Make It.

Mackey, who was forced by activist investor Jana Partners to sell the struggling organic grocery chain in 2017, compared the relationship to a near-perfect marriage. “Amazon is like a marriage,” he said. “Do we love absolutely everything about Amazon? No. We probably love 98%.”

Mackey has changed his tune since last year, when he reportedly said he didn't care whether or not he got fired. In a recording obtained by Business Insider of a town hall style meeting, Mackey is heard saying the company had experienced "many clashes."

"I'm sure that Amazon has probably gotten more disagreement from me than any other single person and possibly more than everyone else combined," Mackey said. "I have the least amount to lose—I have done this for 40 years, I am financially secure, I love Whole Foods.
