International 'Food Revolution Day' promotes home cooking skills

Annual event is organized by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver
5/17/2013

Friday, May 17, was all about revolution. Food revolution, that is.

The second annual 'Food Revolution Day' was celebrated in dozens of countries, including Canada, with hundreds of events aimed at raising awareness about healthy eating.

It was also designed to help keep cooking skills alive.

The website explains that “cooking skills used to be passed down from generation to generation, but now millions of people lack even the most basic cooking skills. We need to get back to basics: to cook and eat fresh local produce; to share cooking skills and food knowledge; to join forces within communities and get as many people involved as possible.”
