Food manufacturers are turning to peas to add more protein to everyday foods.

More specifically they are adding pea protein to a variety of products, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Pea protein is being added to certain foods at a time when consumers are looking to add more protein to their diets.

Pea protein–yellow peas that have been processed to remove carbohydrates–especially appeals to vegan, gluten-free and soy-free shoppers.
