Loblaw president Sarah Davis is taking
on an expanded role to include responsibility for the company's 13-member management board. Additionally, the finance and human resources departments will now report directly into Davis.

Davis, who has been with the company for more than a decade, continues to report to Galen G. Weston, who becomes executive chairman, Loblaw Companies Limited.

In January 2017, Davis was appointed president of Loblaw Companies, becoming the most senior woman in the leadership ranks of a major Canadian grocery retailer. That same year, Canadian Grocer named Davis one of its Star Women in Grocery.

Davis first joined Loblaw in 2007 as controller, and served as chief financial officer from 2010 to 2014. She was then appointed chief administrative officer, responsible for supply chain, human resources, information technology, process and efficiencies, real estate and strategy.

Davis has overseen some of the most transformative programs in the company’s recent history, including the implementation of SAP, the creation of Choice Properties REIT and the acquisition of Shoppers Drug Mart.

"Sarah and I have worked closely for over a decade, and she has played an important role in many of Loblaw's most defining moments: the formation of Choice Properties, the acquisition of Shoppers Drug Mart, the creation of PC Optimum, and a long-term strategy that demonstrates our passion for customers," said Weston, in a press release. "Together, our team has put the company on an exciting strategic path and Sarah is a great leader to take us forward."
