Loblaw’s City Market has officially set up shop in downtown Edmonton’s ICE District two years behind schedule.

The 22,000 sq. ft. location was first announced in 2019 with plans to open in the fall of 2020.

Located at 10324 103 Ave NW, the store joins other tenants such as Rogers Place, Stantec, JW Marriott, the Oilers Official Team Store and Grand Villa Casino, as well as a variety of restaurants and bars.

The grand opening on Wednesday (Nov. 9) brought together representatives from Loblaw, including store franchise owner Stella He; Stu Ballantyne, president and COO of Rogers Place and ICE District; Edmonton city councilor Anne Stevenson; and member of the legislative assembly Dave Shepherd

Oilers alumnus Jason Chimera was also present at the event to sign autographs and engage with the public in attendance.

“We’re so excited and proud to offer downtown Edmontonians improved access to a wide variety of delicious and convenient food options,” He said in a statement. “We look forward to a long and successful partnership with the ICE District, and to serving our customers and community for many years to come."
