5/26/2014

Longo’s is one step closer to opening its fourth Mississauga location.

The retailer broke ground last Friday to begin construction on a store in the Applewood Village Plaza.

Features will include an expansive produce department, full service meat and seafood counter, full service deli with over 300 cheeses, an in-store bakery and a Longo’s kitchen equipped with a stone pizza oven and salad bar.

Maintaining its standard for sustainability, the location will be built with LED lighting and heating reclaim HVAC systems to reduce overall energy consumption.

Anthony, Gus and Roseanne Longo attended the event, as did Hazel McCallion – Mississauga’s mayor of 35 years.

“We’re very much a part of Mississauga through our existing three stores and we look forward to becoming an important member of the Applewood community,” said Anthony Longo, Longo’s president.

He added the location will house the Longo’s Loft Cooking School on the upper level, which will host a line-up of cooking classes and information seminars.

The 35,000 square foot store is scheduled to open in early 2015.
