The Grocery Foundation has announced that Empire president and CEO Michael Medline will chair its board of directors.
Medline has been a member of the not-for-profit's board for the past two years and, in a press release announcing his appointment, said he had seen "firsthand the impact The Grocery Foundation has on the lives of so many children across Canada."
"The difficult reality is that Canadian children need our support now more than ever," said Medline. "I am honoured to step into the role of board chair and look forward to working with this incredible team to help deliver that support to our nation’s children and youth who are most vulnerable."

The Grocery Foundation also announced that Ana Dominguez, president and CEO at Lindt & Sprungli, and Stacey Kravitz, president of UNFI have joined the board of directors.
Since 1979, The Grocery Foundation has raised more than $90 million to help organizations meeting the health and wellness needs of school-aged children. It’s behind such fundraising events as Toonies For Tummies and the
Night to Nurture Gala.
