NEW Canada hosts first networking session

NEW Canada–Network of Executive Women–held its first networking session for the Greater Toronto Area on Wednesday at Kraft Foods corporate offices in Mississauga, Ont., with some 100 attendees.

It’s the first office outside of the U.S., where NEW is celebrating 10 years.

Karen Young, of Nestle Waters and NEW Canada regional co-chair, programs, said NEW’s mission is to attract, retain and advance women in the consumer products and retail industry through education, leadership, and business development.

Young announced that a Deloitte survey that will go out nationwide to benchmark the sector. The survey will look at a variety of elements around leadership and help identify future NEW programs, with results  expected in the fourth quarter.

In today’s workforce, it’s the first time in history I believe where there are often four generations working together, said Young.

NEW Canada is planning to leverage what it can from the U.S. office while making the Canada office market specific.

NEW Canada’s vision five years from now is to be a dedicated and inclusive network of both men and women in a non-competitive platform, said Young.
