New Metro Plus store puts an emphasis on fresh

From the robust produce department to more than 100 ready-to-eat meals, Metro Plus is focused on fresh at its newest store in Lachine, Que.--a borough on the south shore of Montreal Island.

The 39,000-sq.-ft. store took six months and an $8.3-million investment to build, according to a press release issued by Metro, and "showcases all the freshness, product diversity and service quality" the grocery chain is known for.

The produce department, for instance, features local and seasonal products, fresh-cut fruit, smoothies and flavoured waters, a section of vegan products, and a bulk section is only a few feet away.

At Metro Plus Lachine, more than 100 ready-made meals are prepared daily by an on-site chef and stocked within the “Fresh to Go” aisle. In the food market area of the store, shoppers can purchase freshly-made sushi, Thai dishes and pizza to take home or eat in the store's bistro area, which seats approximately 10 diners.

Additionally, Metro Plus Lachine says it offers a plethora of local, ethnic, gluten-free and organic products throughout the store to address the latest food and diet trends.

The store also boasts six self-serve checkouts, and soon, two double electric vehicle charging stations will be available to customers.
