No Frills debuts new look in Komoka, Ont.
No Frills opened its first location in Komoka, Ont. on Thursday (March 26), marking the debut of a new, modern store design for the Loblaw-owned discount banner.
The store, located within a rapidly growing, family-friendly community located just west of London, uses a hybrid of timber and steel for what No Frills describes as a warmer, more modern shopping experience.
No Frills calls it a “fresh take on the traditional warehouse feel,” that is intended to change the way people view discount shopping.
“We are incredibly proud to open the first of our newly designed No Frills stores right here in Komoka,” says Melanie Singh, president, hard discount, Loblaw Companies Limited., in a press release. “This new format represents a step forward, with a more modern and accessible store design while maintaining the same everyday low prices customers have always trusted.”
Mike & Grace’s No Frills offers a wide assortment of grocery essentials tailored to meet the needs of the community, an expanded bakery, home meal replacement options such as hot chickens made daily and a range multicultural products.
“Grace and I are incredibly excited to open Komoka’s first No Frills and be part of this growing community,” said store owner Mike Rundle. “This store means a lot to us—it’s a place where our neighbours can count on great value but also feel welcomed every time they walk through the doors.”
Loblaw is doubling down on discount as consumers continue to seek value in the face of persistently high food prices and stretched budgets. The company recently announced plans to open 70 stores this year, including 31 No Frills and Maxi locations as Canadians flock to discount stores.
